Sanctification Verses: Sin

Deuteronomy 30:14 (The Scriptures–1998) “For the Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart – to do it. 15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil, 16 in that I am commanding you today to love יהוה your Elohim, to walk in His ways, and to guard His commands, and His laws, and His right-rulings. And you shall live and increase, and יהוה your Elohim shall bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 “But if your heart turns away, and you do not obey, and shall be drawn away, and shall bow down to other mighty ones and serve them, 18 “I have declared to you today that you shall certainly perish, you shall not prolong your days in the land which you are passing over the Yardĕn to enter and possess. 19 “I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed, 20 to love יהוה your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him – for He is your life and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Yaʽaqoḇ, to give them.”

 

Psalms 51:10 (The Scriptures–1998) Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, And renew a steadfast 1 Show me favour, O Elohim, According to Your kindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion, Blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me completely from my guilt, And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. 4 Against You, You alone, have I sinned, And done evil in Your eyes; That You might be proven right in Your words; Be clear when You judge. 5 See, I was brought forth in crookedness, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 See, You have desired truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You make me know wisdom. 7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I am clean; Wash me, and I am whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness, Let the bones You have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my crookednesses. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Set-apart Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your deliverance, And uphold me, Noble Spirit!

 

Proverbs 12:22 (The Scriptures–1998) Lying lips are an abomination to יהוה, But those who deal truly are His delight.

 

Isaiah 1:16 (The Scriptures–1998) “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Stop doing evil! 17 “Learn to do good! Seek right-ruling, reprove the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. 18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says יהוה. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 “If you submit and obey, you shall eat the good of the land; 20  but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword,” for the mouth of יהוה has spoken.

 

Isaiah 59:12 (The Scriptures–1998) For our transgressions have increased before You, and our sins witnessed against us. For our transgressions are with us, and as for our crookednesses, we know them: 13 transgressing, and being untrue to יהוה, and turning away from our Elohim, speaking oppression and apostasy, conceiving and pondering words of falsehood from the heart.

 

Jeremiah 17:5 (The Scriptures–1998) Thus said יהוה, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart turns away from יהוה. 6  “For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and not see when good comes, and shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land that is not inhabited. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in יהוה, and whose trust is יהוה. 8 “For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and does not see when heat comes. And his leaf shall be green, and in the year of drought he is not anxious, nor does he cease from yielding fruit. 9 “The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?

 

Jeremiah 17:10 (The Scriptures–1998) “I, יהוה, search the heart, I try the kidneys, and give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

 

Jeremiah 31:33 (The Scriptures–1998) “For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. 34 “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares יהוה. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.”

 

Proverbs 4:18 (The Scriptures–1998) But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wrong is like darkness; They do not know at what they stumble.

 

1 Corinthians 10:13 (AENT) No trial comes upon you, but what pertains to men: and Elohim is faithful who will not permit you to be tried beyond your ability, but will make an issue to your trial, that you may be able to sustain it.

 

James 1:12 (AENT) Blessed is the man who endures temptations so that when he is proved he may receive a crown of life which Elohim has promised to them that love Him. 13 Let no one when he is tempted, say: "I am tempted of Elohim," for Elohim is not tempted with evils, nor does He tempt any man. 14 But every man is tempted by his own lust; and he lusts and is drawn away. 15 And this (his) lust conceives and brings forth sin; and sin when mature, brings forth death.

 

James 4:7 (AENT) Subject yourselves therefore to Elohim; and stand firm against the Accuser and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to Elohim and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners: sanctify your hearts, you who are divided in mind

 

James 4:17 (AENT) He that knows the good and does it not, to him is sin.

 

1 John 1:8 (AENT) And if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

 

1 John 1:9 (AENT) But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all our iniquity. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not with us.

 

1 John 3:4 (AENT) And everyone that practices sin, perpetrates iniquity; for all sin is iniquity.

 

1 John 3:7 (AENT) Little children, let no one lead you astray. The one doing righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. 8 The one doing sin is of the devil, because the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of Elohim was manifested: to destroy the works of the devil.
