So, What Is The Goal?
Some people may wisely ask what is the goal of all of Sanctification? Well the goal is to become Kadosh (i.e. Set-apart or some may say Holy) – to choose life.
1 Peter 1:15 (AENT) But you be Set Apart in all your conduct, as he is Set Apart who has called you. 16 Because it is written: "Be you Kadosh even as I am Kadosh."
Leviticus 20:26 (The Scriptures–1998) ‘And you shall be set-apart to Me, for I יהוה am set-apart, and have separated you from the peoples to be Mine.
Ephesians 5:1 (AENT) Be therefore imitators of Elohim as beloved children
Exodus 19:5 (The Scriptures–1998) ‘And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine – 6 ‘and you shall be to Me a reign of priests and a set-apart nation.’ Those are the words which you are to speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl.”
1 Peter 2:9 (AENT) But you are an elect race, officiating as priests of the Kingdom; a Set Apart people, a redeemed congregation; that you should proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness to his precious light
Deuteronomy 30:19 (The Scriptures–1998) “I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him – for He is your life and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Yaʽaqoḇ, to give them.”
Ultimately we are ‘saved’ to be disciples and do righteousness (Yes Righteousness is imparted to us but we are also called to DO Righteousness).
Proverbs 21:3 (The Scriptures–1998) To do righteousness and right-ruling Is more acceptable to יהוה than a slaughtering.
Psalms 106:3 (The Scriptures–1998) Blessed are those who guard right-ruling, Who do righteousness at all times!
Ezekiel 18:24 (The Scriptures–1998) “But when a righteous one turns away from his righteousness and does unrighteousness, according to all the abominations that the wrong one has done, shall he live? All his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered. For his trespass which he has committed, and for his sin which he has committed, for them he shall die.
Ezekiel 18:25 (The Scriptures–1998) “And you said, ‘The way of יהוה is not right.’ Hear now, O house of Yisra’ĕl, is My way not right? Is it not your ways that are not right?
I understand we will never get to a place of perfection and all-knowing but that shouldn’t keep us from trying. I believe that seeing our own shortcomings enables us to be merciful and compassionate towards others. We understand they are struggling just like us. Therefore I try to balance mercy with discipleship (which is applying the Bible to our lives). In addition, the more people we can get to live as disciples the better it will be for all of us.
Matthew 5:20 (AENT) “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens.
1 John 2:29 (AENT) If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone doing righteousness has been born of Him.
1 John 3:7 (AENT) Little children, let no one lead you astray. The one doing righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.
James 2:13 (AENT) For judgment without mercy will be on him who has practiced no mercy: by mercy, you will be raised above judgment.
Matthew 5:7 (AENT) "Blessed are they who are merciful because mercies will be upon them.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 (The Scriptures–1998) Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, one lifts his companion up. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they keep warm; but how does one keep warm by himself? 12 Although one might be overpowered, two withstand him. And a threefold cord is not readily broken.
Galatians 6:1 (AENT) Brothers, if a man is overtaken in some trespass, you the spiritual ones, set such a one straight in a spirit of meekness, looking at yourself lest you be tried too. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so complete the Torah of Messiah. 3 For if anyone thinks himself to be somebody, when he is not, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he shall have boasting in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own burden.
James 5:19 (AENT) My Brothers, if one of you stray from the path of truth, and any one convert him from his error; 20 let him know that he who turns the sinner from the error of his way, will restore his soul from death and will cover the multitude of his sins.
Mat 28:18 (AENT) And Y'shua drew near and spoke with them and said to them, "All authority is given to me in heaven and on earth. And as my Father has sent me, I send you. 19 Go therefore, make disciples of all nations and immerse them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Ruach haKodesh. 20 And teach them to keep all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen."
1 Corinthians 15:33 (AENT) Be not deceived; "Evil stories corrupt upright minds."
Proverbs 13:20 (The Scriptures–1998) He who walks with the wise, shall be wise, But the companion of fools suffers evil.
