What is a Parsha study? You ask . . .

ree

So if you've updated yourself with the latest, Walk with Yah (WWY) is starting a new 'From the 1st to the 3rd Heavens' (F123H) videocast. The start of these episodes will start with a bible study but with a particular bible study knows as a 'Parsha' study.

You can find WWY's Event calendar (which will include the portions of the weekly Sabbath Parsha that will be gleaned over) here.

A Parsha study usually covers the 1st 5 books of the Bible, the Torah, in one year breaking it into weekly sections. This is followed by a Haftarah which is a smaller section that comes from the Prophets of the Tanakh (a.k.a. the Old Testament). Since I'm a Torah-keeping Christian, some verses from the Apostolic Writings (a.k.a. the New Testament) will be included.

The purpose is to show consistent themes throughout the Bible. However, there are times throughout the year when Yah/God has designated to meet with His People. These are referred to as a Moed (singular) or Moedim (plural). These would include the various Feasts and other Biblical calendar events as well as the weekly Sabbath (from Friday sundown until Saturday sundown.

No worries. I'm not interested in trying to get you to learn Hebrew, move to Israel or anything like that. The goal of WWY/F123H is not to 'convert' you to be a Messianic Jew (i.e. a Christian Torah-Keeper). The whole of the F123H won't be a Bible study - unless that's where The Ruach haKodesh/Holy Spirit wants to move that day.

I find that many Western Christians in the US are not very familiar with the Tanakh (a.k.a. the Old Testament) so they don't really understand what is going on 'in-between the lines' in the Apostolic Writings (a.k.a. the New Testament) MANY times.

You have to be aware of, at least, that much of what is said in the Bible contain Jewish customs, the language itself, metaphors, sayings, etc. that if you're not aware of this you'll miss alot of what the Bible is trying to tell us.

Consider these verses:

Rom 3:1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.

2 Peter 3:14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.

I'm not a Torah teacher nor do I lay claim to know everything Bible but I do realize that Biblical illiteracy is at an all-time high. But let's talk about this and learn from one another. Maybe you'll agree with me, maybe you won't and that's ok. As long as we respect one another that'll be a great start as I minister to people of various bible-believing denominations.

If you would like to know why I've come to the understanding of being a Torah-Keeping Christian, I did some teachings on this just giving some basic reasons. Although I've studied this topic at great length and it amazes me how we got to where we are at now in the world:

For your enjoyment:

Shalom,

Noe
